Knowing where you are going with your goal is founded on setting a deadline: the same as having a target for university or your occupation. The first thing you need to do to generate a deadline is to outline the general timeframe.

What I mean by this is, will this goal take a few days, a few weeks, a few months, a year or a few years to achieve?

Pick a date in the future that is the most realistic to you, and remember there is no need to worry, you can always go back and switch it later with another date.

As soon as you have decided on your deadline, you then need to break your goal into little goals. Breaking your main goal into little action steps will help bring you nearer to the main goal.

For instance, your main goal might be: “I want to lose weight.” Your action steps could be, for the first week: “I’ll stop eating bacon for breakfast and have fruit instead.” For the second week: “I’ll stop eating pies for lunch, and have a salad instead” and so on.
